(November) National Native American Heritage Month

This month we celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and honor the important contributions of Native people. This is also a time to acknowledge the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and, in the present, and the ways in which tribal citizens have worked to conquer these challenges. November 25-December 10 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent, and devastating human rights violations in our world today.  It remains largely unreported due to silence, stigma, shame, lack of protections and redress for victims. When women are empowered, they can thrive and succeed.  When women are treated with dignity, respect, and are given access to economic opportunities and education, it can help lift their communities out of poverty, creating opportunities for stability and peace. For more information please visit Bridges, a New Hampshire Non-Profit for domestic and sexual abuse support: https://www.bridgesnh.org/international-day-for-the-elimination-of-violence-against-women/

NH Statistics: If you’re interested in New Hampshire statistics, the The Reality of Sexual Assault in New Hampshire complied an extensive report. Click the hyperlink to access, and please click https://www.nhcadsv.org/statistics-and-research.html for more statistical information.

The International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women campaign, led by the UN Secretary-General and UN Women since 2008, aims to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls around the world, calling for global action to increase awareness, promote advocacy and create opportunities for discussion on challenges and solutions. This campaign will mark the launch of the UNiTE campaign (Nov 25- Dec 10): an initiative of 16 days of activism, concluding on the day that commemorates the International Human Rights Day (10 December).
