The 16th annual Veterans Stand Down event hosted by Harbor Care in partnership with the VA, Dept. of Labor and dozens of local service providers, is the largest resource fair dedicated to providing at-risk and homeless veterans with important services and resources

Harbor Care helps countless veterans like Marty find solid ground after their time serving in the military has ended. This includes helping them find their paths towards recovery, providing stable housing, and helping them develop new skills to thrive in the workplace.

Curtis, an Army veteran, and son Kai have faced challenges, but today find themselves in a safe apartment thanks to Harbor Care’s Veterans FIRST program. Working with our Homeless Veterans Reintegration Program, the Curtis is currently in a reliable job, as well.

Shawn grew up in the foster care system. He never met his mother. His father is serving a life sentence. He had his first drink at age 14 and has battled alcohol and chronic homelessness ever since. Today, he’s in recovery and has found a home with Zoe, his emotional support dog.

Paul always enjoyed working with his hands. For 16 years he worked as a mechanic in two U.S. Military branches, including a 12-month deployment to Afghanistan. Back in civilian life, he lost his job and was on the verge of homelessness. That’s when Harbor Care Stepped in.

Tura was in a serious car accident in her mid-20’s. She spent a month in the hospital receiving pain medications. Like many, this process led to a lifelong battle with substance use. After years of failed treatment, she found herself at Cynthia Day Family Center and today is reunited with her son.

Keystone Hall’s Cynthia Day Family Center in Nashua is one of very few facilities that cater to the specific needs of pregnant and parenting women experiencing a substance use disorder in the Granite State, and we’re proud to announce that we will be expanding to offer more beds to these particularly vulnerable clients.

Harbor Care’s Director of Veteran Services appeared on Good Morning NH with Jack Heath recently to discuss veteran homelessness throughout the Granite State. The agency’s unique blend of client-centered programs connects veterans to housing stabilization or work readiness as well as a full range of healthcare options, including primary care, behavioral healthcare, and dental.

Harbor Care’s Veterans FIRST director David Tille has personal ties to war-torn Ukraine and leads the effort in the state to end veteran homelessness. Harbor Care stands with Ukraine and its desire to remain sovereign. Many clients enlisted to support these same values.

Harbor Care Health and Wellness Center visitors will notice a new face in the practice. Dr. Chun-Rui Ray Zhao, MD, began treating patients at the center this winter, bringing with him extensive experience in general medicine and primary care for people of all ages.

Dr. Marcia Valerie Tanur passed away surrounded by loved ones on Feb. 12, 2022. She worked tirelessly as the agency’s prescriber program medical director. Co-workers at Harbor Care assembled to talk about how much of an impact Dr. Tanur had at the agency.
