As our clients know, we don’t hand a person in distress a blind referral to another service. We won’t ask them to share their life and their story again and again, to fill out form after form, and wait and wait for care.

We promise: once a person enters any of the many programs within Harbor Care, they are automatically “in the system.” After 40 years of doing this kind of work, we know that more often than not, if a person doesn’t have a safe, secure place to stay, none of their other struggles will resolve, because that basic human need – safe shelter – remains unmet.

Job Well Done: AmeriCorps at Harbor Care

The Harbor Homes Recovery Corps program began in December 2018 through an AmeriCorps grant aimed at aiding people in recovery from -- or struggling with -- substance use disorder. Since that time, the Recovery Corps was able to recruit a total of 36 members who served between 6-month and 1-year terms at 16 host sites that serve people in recovery throughout the state of New Hampshire.
